Feeling grateful for the opportunity to attend "Time To Lead" last week. Hosted by Angie Morgan, Jamie ElRod, and Massiel Diez, the conference brought together inspiring voices and meaningful conversations about leading with confidence and purpose.
It was a wonderful experience that brought together women from the energy industry, corporate sectors, and entrepreneurial backgrounds to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. It expanded our perspectives through the insights of inspiring women leaders while providing practical tools and actionable steps to strengthen our own leadership journeys.
Today, I will share the three most important takeaways from this conference for me: the definition of Success, three phrases that will stay with me and the factor that matters as the work we do every day.
1) THE definition of Success
When was the last time you assessed your own success?
What is success for you in this stage of your life?
What does authentic success mean to you?
A good reminder: Success is dynamic! It can change according to the stage of your life. It can change simply because your mindset about life direction, values, and vision changes.
For that reason, it is good to reassess success from time to time; maybe every year could be a good frequency? You decide.
How to define Authentic Success?
Consider the following:
When you envision your successful life, who is with you? People in that vision matter!
What does success look like for you personally, and how does it look when reflected in the lives of the people who matter most to you?
In what ways does this success bring meaning, fulfillment, and joy to your life?
What lasting impact or legacy do you hope this success will create for yourself and for those who matter most to you?
How much of this success is driven by who you truly are versus who you want others to think you are?
Coaching Exercise: Write down a statement about your Authentic vision of Success and review it every year.
Next: define one meaningful action to move toward that direction and one meaningful way to measure whether you are moving in that direction.
2) The phrases that will stay with me are:
“Remember, none of this really matters”
For me, this represents all the ambitions and demands of the material world. While these pursuits are often necessary, they should never take precedence over what truly matters: your health, peace of mind, purpose, and meaningful time with the people you love.
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Mark 8:36
“Take great care of yourself”
Only when we are at our healthiest can we truly make a difference at work, enjoy life to the fullest, serve others, and leave a lasting legacy.
“Women, we'll figure it out”
There is no secret. We can be leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, mothers, and changemakers, all while striving to become the best version of ourselves for the season of life we are in.
Is it challenging? Without a doubt. But growth, purpose, and impact are rarely found in comfort.
3) Relationships matter!
Success is not only about what we accomplish, but also about the meaningful relationships we build along the way. Do you agree?
These meaningful relationships are part of our legacy. They reflect who we are, guide and elevate our path, and ultimately influence the destination of our lives.
What is one intentional action you can take today that will bring you closer to your definition of success?
