What do you hear internally when you make a mistake?
1) Oops. My bad. Fixing it 2) I did it again… I’m stupid (or incompetent, or dumb) 3) Add that to my collection of learning moments 4) Good news: I found the mistake. Bad news: I made it 5) I’m always behind...
Do you still feel worthy and capable even when things don’t go as planned?
1) I messed everything up. Why do I always do this? 2) What’s the next best move? 3)Now everything is ruined 3)I can handle this 4)Others would’ve handled this better 5)Okay, curveball. Not a big deal...
When you face uncertainty, do you rely more on preparation or on your ability to handle whatever happens?
1) I rely heavily on preparation, skills, or control 2) I feel grounded even without full control; I’ll figure it out.
How was your test? are you ready to figure this topic out?
I promise I’ll take you to the next step after self-confidence but no worries if you’re not there yet or if you don’t feel confident right now.
I see you, and I know how loud some internal voices can be, and how much they can hurt.
And you know what? Sometimes that same internal voice would never say out loud to anyone else the things it says to you every day. You could start today by treating yourself the way you’d treat your best friend or your mom going through the same situation.
Sometimes we all need a little help a trusted friend or relative who supports us. A coach too. And, let me tell you:
You can do it. You are not alone. You deserve to be treated with love and respect.
Self-confidence is not a personality trait. It’s a skill! something you can learn, train, and strengthen. It’s built through:
Action: successfully completing tasks.
The cycle: action → evidence → confidence. Track your progress!
Interpretation of events: events are neutral; you can say “I’m terrible” or “I’m learning.”
Environment: being around people who reinforce your strengths, support you, and make you feel accepted or the opposite.
AND, What is the next step after self confidence?
It is Self-trust! And, that looks like:
A mistake? This is fixable.
Everything is going on at once? One step at a time.
Hard times? I can handle this.
Life tells you “no” again? Let’s keep going.
Most people chase the belief: “I need to believe I’m capable.” Great if you reach that and even better when you take the next step: “I can handle whatever happens.” That’s the level-up into self‑trust.
You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to control everything. You only need the belief that you can recover, adapt, and learn.
How do adults build solid self-trust?
Self-trust grows when things are uncertain, imperfect, or uncomfortable.
Embrace uncertainty: act even when you can’t prepare perfectly, when you don’t control the outcome, and practice tolerating “not knowing.” Here you learn that you can handle unpredictability.
Repair the relationship with yourself: self-trust depends on how you treat yourself when you don’t succeed. Replace self-attack with curiosity and learning.
Reinforce emotional resilience: stay with discomfort instead of escaping it. When embarrassment, rejection, or uncertainty show up, let yourself feel them without collapsing or overreacting. In that space, you strengthen your capacity to remain grounded anchored in your values, your identity, and your purpose.
If you noticed, this time the coaching exercise was at the beginning and now you decide what to take from this article and what to improve.
Remember: You can do it! You are not alone! And, I believe in you!
